Google AI Overviews are AI-generated answers that appear on top of the regular list of search results. Google's AI briefly answers the question and adds links to the source pages it drew on. Alongside them, Google offers AI Mode, a separate conversational search experience for longer questions with follow-ups.

For a user it looks like this: they search "how to choose a packaging supplier" and immediately see a summary with criteria, examples and links. AI Overviews are built on the regular Google index. Google does not list special requirements for them: a page needs to be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet.
